Create a Set_up Routine

How to golf for beginners and having your own set-up routine is important. Whether your a beginner or intermediate player you have to have your own unique set-up routine that you use to prepare yourself for every shot.

Everyone has their own perspective and outlook about golf. It is how you approach the game that will determine how good a golfer you will become. You have to be willing to accept failure because it will come, I guarantee it. It is the greatest game there is and if your willing to put in some practice and develop your own routine while your playing you can become very good at this game.

I am going to explain my set-up routine to you in hopes that it will help you as well. For myself, golf is a very relaxing game. It doesn't matter if I play a good round or a bad round of golf, I just enjoy playing the game. I enjoy the beutiful scenery, the smell of the fresh cut grass, but the one thing that attracts me to golf the most is the fact that this is a game that can never be mastered. You always have room to improve.

I always go to the golf coarse early enough so I have time to warm up on the practice tee. I cannot stress enough the importance of getting loose and warmed up before you start play. This is when you will start your mental preparations for play. I
have been playing for so long that I have developed my own personal routine from addressing the ball through the completion of the swing. You should develop your own personal routine as well.

When at the practice tee I will place an iron on the ground to help me with my alignment. This helps me when I set my feet to make sure they are placed properly. I will position myself behind the ball so I can visualise the shot in my head. When I am setting up for a shot I start out with my feet together and I check my distance from the ball. Once that is complete, I make sure that when I place my club behind the ball the club face is square to the ball and aligned to my target.

I then set my left hand first making sure it is in the proper position. If my left hand is in good position than my right hand fits right into place. I then spread my feet apart starting with my left foot first. I always start with my left foot because my left foot determines where the ball is placed in my stance. This will also make it easy for me if I need to make any adjustments of the ball to my stance.

After my feet are in place, I slightly open up my left foot. This will allow me to clear my hips easier since my flexibility has tightened up over the years. it is not that easy when you are my age to rotate your body through the swing.

With my set-up now finished, I am ready to deliver my swing to the ball. If everything is done correctly the ball will go where I want it to.

Golf is all about repetition and repeating the same swing over and over. If you develop your own set-up routine this will take you one step closer to being a more consistent golfer.

Some surefire ways to avoid the push shot

One of the ways you could go about fixing the push shot is by starting to identify that this is a problem. The push shot, best known for the ball to travel to the right of the target line, is not a difficult problem to crack, but just needs the golfer to spend time practicing.

The reasons for the push shot

If the pull shot was caused due to the clubface being in a closed position on impact with the ball, the push shot happens due to the clubface being open at the time of impact. As a result of this, right handed golfers will find the ball moving right of the target line and keep moving continuously in the same direction.

Correcting your push shot can be a challenge. If you need help with your whole golf swing, there is a great book, The Golf Swing Book Review

Push shot is really another name for a delayed shot, something people do unconsciously. In fact, if you delay your shot for some seconds, you could end up hitting the ball at the wrong time and the wrong place. This results in the ball moving from the intended direction to the target line.

When the clubface hits the ball sooner than you expected, you will find the ball traveling in a direction not to the line of the target. Actually, this happens because the clubface is a touch too open on hitting the ball, which is not desirable.

Doables to prevent the push

One of the first things you would hear about avoiding your push shot is to ensure your shoulder and hips move in unison. This is the best way you could avoid the push shot. Apart from this, you will find many more strategies that will be outlined to help you break this jinx, but as a beginner, it always helps if you go back to your basics.

To hit the ball straight and far everytime you step up to the tee box, is something we all desire. However there’s a lot of people out there saying that a great golf swing can be bought, I’d say there dead wrong. If you want to read more, Perfect Golf Swing

Pro golfers would advise a rather systematic approach to fix the problem of hitting push shots. They would first advise you would get about not hitting the push shot is to transfer your body weight to the left foot. Also make note to that you would need to rotate your body slightly. Now, a lot of people actually go for the jugular and move their body backwards and forwards, which should be avoided.

Now, you could pick up the club in your hand and try practicing this movement. Please note that it is important to position the buckle of your belt in line with the target when you finish with the stroke.

Be sure of having your right forearm slightly turned in position over the left. This will ensure that you bring the clubface down closefaced, and when you hit the ball with a closed face club, you more or less ensure that the ball moves in a straight line.
